Breakfast with an Author – A Book for Every Reader with Erin Blakemore

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 30 – 7:30-8:50 am

We’re joining with the Youth Services Section for a very special breakfast, with author Erin Blakemore.

Blakemore will visit us from Boulder, Colorado. Her book, The Heroine’s Bookshelf (published by Harper), won a Colorado Book Award for Nonfiction. It was also featured in The New York Times, The Christian Science Monitor, The Washington Post, Ms. Magazine, Vogue Italia, as well as being translated into several languages.

Blakemore’s writing has appeared in numerous print and online publications including the Popular Science LadyBits blog, NPR’s This I Believe, Smith College Alumnae Quarterly, and The Onion. She co-founder of VOCO Creative, a marketing and brand strategy firm.

Blakemore writes on her blog, “I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be speaking at the 2014 Kansas Library Association Conference this October.
“The conference has a theme that’s close to my heart, indeed: Out of the Stacks: Engaging Communities, Promoting Learning. I’ll be doing two sessions…a breakfast session on finding a book for every reader and a workshop on how librarians can connect their young readers to the stories behind their favorite stories.
“As a library school dropout and a passionate advocate for the good libraries do in our schools and our communities, I couldn’t be more honored.”

We are honored to host you, Erin! Stay tuned for more information about the two events…
