K-LIRT was established to meet the following four objectives:
To provide a forum for discussion of activities, programs,
and problems of instruction in the use of all types of
libraries.
To contribute to the education and training of librarians
for library instruction.
To promote instruction in the use of libraries as an
essential library service.
To serve as a channel of communication on instruction in the
use of libraries.
K-LIRT's Leadership:
Most of K-LIRT's affairs and activities are coordinated by its
Executive Committee. This committee is comprised of three
elected positions: Chair, Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect, and
Secretary/Treasurer. K-LIRT also has a Steering Committee which
provides general oversight and sets K-LIRT's annual membership dues
each year. The Steering Committee is comprised of the Executive
Committee plus the Convener of the Nominations and Elections
Committee, chairpersons of any taskforces and other committees
established by the
Executive Committee, and the Publications Liaison.
Activities:
At the present time, K-LIRT strives to meet these objectives by
conducting two
business meetings per year, sponsoring programming at two
library conferences each year, hosting a
summer workshop every other year, maintaining this website, and
maintaining a blog.
Membership:
As of Feb 1, 2010 K-LIRT had 28 members. Anyone interested in
library instruction is encouraged to join K-LIRT. See the
Membership section for information about how to join.
