- Robin Brooks is the new promotions chair
- Beth Levrault will be the new chair for the Technical Services committee
- Tim Rogers thanked Michelle Swain for scheduling the conference
- Rosanne mentioned that she had sent her

4. Kan-Ed update by Cindi Hickey
- report was provided by Cindi
- connection subsidies reinstated look for the online application
- Annual Kan-Ed conference is in Wichita
June 8-9 “Showcasing Kan-Ed Services”
5. State of EPA libraries by Rob Banks
- EPA libraries are closing around the country
- there is great concern about lack of access to the materials
- proposal was made that KLA make a
statement against this action and opposing the closings
Motion by Jane Kelsey, 2nd
Jennifer Dalton, no discussion, passed unanimously
6. Election Results
- 2nd Veep – Laura Loveless
- Recording Secretary – Gina Millsap
- Nominating Committee – Carole Byram, Mickey Coalwell, Dana Williams-Capone
- Rep to Mt Plains Library Association – Susan Moyer
7. Presidential Awards
- Barbara Dew – Ottawa Public Library
- New Professional – Jamie Profrow
- Meritorious Service – Midge Jones, Manhattan Public Library
8. Budget
- Handouts provided via e-mail by Rosanne
- Special note about reserve fund, KLA
will begin keeping the equivalent of 2 months of the operating budget in
reserve, but will need several years to do this.
- Michelle Swain is looking into options
for web hosting and wanted to ensure a line item in the budget
- motion to accept budget by Jane Hatch,
no additional discussion, 2nd not needed, passed unanimously
9. Old Business
- Bylaws – posted on the web page, Executive Director and Parliamentarian
have official
copies
10. Education Foundation – Jane Hatch
- Almost at 100% of participation of Council
- All proceeds from the sales of tickets for the basket raffle would go the
Ed Foundation
11. Thank Yous! – Tim Rogers
Tim Rogers took a few moments to give props to the
entire Council for their work and gave specific congrats to the following:
Vickki Jo – for her time and effort in promoting
Education Foundation and KLA
Cindi Hickey – for her work as KLA rep to Kan Ed
Michelle Swain – for planning the conference
Bob Walter – for his ongoing support to the President,
and years as Past President
Jane Hatch – for her work on the Finance committee and
the Foundation
Pat Gaunce and Sue Blechl – for their work on
Government Affairs
Tim then gave these individuals and Council a round of
applause. Council responded by giving it up for Tim and his work as
President of KLA.

- Pat Gaunce is retiring. A reception will
